HBO Max Orders Harley Quinn Season 3, DC Universe Rebrands

After months of speculation, the fate of Harley Quinn and DC Universe has been revealed. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Harley Quinn will get a third season on HBO Max. However, there’s no time table for when the new season will be ready. DC Universe premiered the 26-episodes of season 1 and 2 in close proximity to each other. If the season 3 scripts still need to be written, it could be a long wait.

THR also notes that DC Universe’s legacy shows will all move over to HBO Max. This confirms earlier comments from DC Publisher Jim Lee, and presumably includes the upcoming Young Justice: Phantoms. DC Universe is also getting rebranded as DC Universe Infinite as it moves away from video content.

DC Universe Infinite will officially launch on January 21, 2021. One of the big changes is that DC will now be adding comics to DC Universe Infinite six months after release. Previously, the period between publication and DC Universe was a year. DC Universe Infinite will also be the home to exclusive digital-first comics.

“Our fans love the platform’s robust library of comic books and, with the transformation, we will not disappoint,” said Lee in a statement. “I’m excited to share that not only will DC Universe Infinite members still be able to read all of the great comics that they’ve enjoyed but new issues are debuting on the platform quicker than before, digital first exclusives are being created, and the members-only events will begin as soon as possible. ”
