Marvel’s She-Hulk live-action series on Disney+ is one step closer to production. According to Deadline, Kat Coiro is in final negotiations to direct the pilot episode as well as several other episodes. Additionally, Coiro will join the series as an executive producer.
Coiro has extensive experience as a director for television, particularly for comedy series. Some of her previous credits include Brooklyn 99, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Dead To Me, Mozart In The Jungle, Shameless, and Modern Family. Coiro is also directing the upcoming romantic comedy film, Marry Me, based upon the comic of the same name. That film stars Jennifer Lopez as a pop star who marries a fan in the crowd (Owen Wilson) on a whim, after her fiancé publicly cheats on her.
Within Marvel’s comic book universe, She-Hulk is Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s cousin and a successful attorney. After an attempt on Jennifer’s life, Bruce was forced to give her an emergency blood transfusion that gave her the powers of a Hulk as well. However, Jennifer can keep her own personality while transformed as She-Hulk, at least until fairly recently. But the show will likely draw upon classic She-Hulk rather than her more modern appearance.

Marvel Studios has yet to cast an actress to play She-Hulk in the series. Marvel was reportedly looking for “an Alison Brie-type” earlier this year. However, it’s unclear if the studio ever approached Brie herself.
Rick and Morty veteran Jessica Gao is the showrunner for She-Hulk.
