While The Mandalorian season 2 is just a few weeks away, fans are gonna have a longer wait for one of the other Star Wars live-action series on Disney+. Via ComingSoon, Ewan McGregor provided an update on Obi-Wan during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. McGregor also revealed that the series is set to shoot in spring 2021.
“Spring next year we start,” said McGregor. “I’m really excited about it. It’s gonna be great, I think.”
Additionally, McGregor confirmed that his return as Obi-Wan Kenobi is only for a single season. However, he seemed to leave the door open for more.
“As I understand, it’s a standalone season,” added McGregor. “We’ll see. Who knows?”

Earlier this year, Joby Harold (Army of the Dead) was hired to write the Obi-Wan series. Deborah Chow is set to direct as well. While details about the story remain a secret, the series will follow Obi-Wan during his time on Tatooine.
McGregor previously revealed that Obi-Wan will utilize The Volume, the groundbreaking VFX behind The Mandalorian‘s virtual sets. The series will likely begin casting later this year.
