Dania Ramirez Cast in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth Adaptation

Two months after getting a series order from Netflix, the producers behind Sweet Tooth have resumed the show’s casting process. Deadline is reporting that actress Dania Ramirez has joined the series as a character named Aimee.

Comic fans might recognize Ramirez from playing Callsto in X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. She also lent her voice to a 2018 episode of Justice League Action and provided the voice of Scandal Savage in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay that same year. Additionally, Ramirez has made recurring appearances on TV shows like Heroes, Entourage, Once Upon a Time, and Tell Me a Story.

Ramirez’s Sweet Tooth character is described as “a pioneer in the middle of dystopic America.” She’s also “a lone scavenger in an abandoned city, rebuilding a sustainable habitat and giving orphaned hybrids a home.” The TV series, based on Jeff Lemire’s Vertigo comic book of the same name, follows Gus, a deer-human hybrid who travels the country in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event, meeting a plethora of other interesting creatures along the way. Christian Convery is headlining the new show as Gus. The cast also includes Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Will Forte, and James Brolin as the series’ narrator.

Rumor has it that the Sweet Tooth cast and crew will make their way to New Zealand next month. After self-quarantining for two weeks in compliance with national policy, they will reportedly commence shooting on September 7.

Netflix still hasn’t announced a premiere date for Sweet Tooth.
