Lucasfilm Announces The Mandalorian Tie-In Books

Disney+ has already set The Mandalorian season 2 for an October premiere. But as it turns out, fans of the series will have more ways to get their Mandalorian fix. StarWars.com has announced that Lucasfilm is teaming up with a number of different publishers to release new tie-in books that will go inside the making of the show and expand its mythology.

Kicking off this series of new releases is The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One) by Phil Szostak, who previously wrote similar books on the making of all three films in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Gracing the cover of Szostak’s new book is an illustration by Doug Chiang, Lucasfilm’s vice president and executive creative director. The book will hit stores in December.

Also arriving in December is The Mandalorian: Original Novel by Adam Christopher. In 2017, Christopher contributed to Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, a collection of short stories released in honor of Star Wars’ 40th anniversary. He’s also dabbled in the Stranger Things universe, penning last year’s Darkness on the Edge of Town tie-in novel. Details are scarce on Christopher’s Mandalorian book, but it sounds like it will adapt the show’s first season.

Additionally, DK will publish Pablo Hidalgo’s The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide (a staple of every Star Wars installment); which is currently without an official release date. Meanwhile, other publishers are gearing up to debut coloring and activity books for younger readers, a junior novelization, and more. Marvel and IDW are also getting in on the action with new comics featuring characters from the series.
