Lex Luthor Reveals His Untold Story in Supergirl Episode 5.17 Photos

After a more than a month hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Supergirl will return to its usual time slot next Sunday. To pump up the fans, The CW has released a brand new set of promotional photos from the upcoming seventeenth episode of Supergirl Season 5. The episode will see the long-awaited directorial debut of Melissa Benoist, who plays the titular heroine on the show. The story will focus on how Lex Luthor came into power after the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and became one of the most beloved people on Earth.

It seems that M’gann M’orzz will be back too. Last time fans saw Sharon Leal’s Miss Martian was back in Season 2. Now the DC heroine is reunited together with her love interest J’onn J’onzz, perhaps in an attempt to defeat Leviathan.

Melissa Benoist directed the episode with story by Lindsay Sturman and teleplay by Katie Rose Rogers & Brooke Pohl. The official synopsis of the upcoming Supergirl “Deus Lex Machina” episode reads as follows:

“Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) proceeds to lay an intricate plan to bring Lena (Katie McGrath) closer to him, defeat Leviathan’s latest attack, and pit Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team against Leviathan. It is also revealed how Lex came into power after Crisis.”

Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the series boasts executive producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, as well as Robert Rovner, and Jessica Queller. Moreover, Berlanti Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television, produces Supergirl.
