HBO Officially Renews Westworld For a Fourth Season

“These violent delights have violent ends.” However, the end is nowhere in sight for HBO’s Westworld. Two weeks ahead of the third season finale, HBO has officially renewed the series for a fourth season.

Via Variety, HBO Programming President Casey Bloys shared a statement about Westworld‘s renewal.

“From the western theme park to the technocratic metropolis of the near future, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy,” said Bloys. “We can’t wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next.”

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy created the Westworld series in 2016; which was inspired by Michael Critchton’s 1973 sci-fi cult classic film. The second season followed in 2018, before season three debuted earlier this year. Presumably, this means that there will also be a two year gap between seasons 3 and 4. Additionally, THR is reporting that Nolan and Joy have been locked in for two seasons beyond season 4. That would bring Westworld to at least a six season run on HBO.

Series stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, and Tessa Thompson will likely be back next season. However, it’s unclear if season 3 additions Aaron Paul and Ed Harris will also return.

However, the third season of Westworld isn’t quite done yet. Two episodes remain until the season finale arrives on Sunday, May 3.
