The Umbrella Academy Showrunner Says Season 2 Won’t Be Delayed

With coronavirus sweeping the entertainment landscape, lots of TV shows are on hold until the crisis blows over. But fortunately, not all hope is lost–a few programs managed to eke out full seasons before the pandemic took over everyone’s way of life. One of these series is Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. According to showrunner Steve Blackman, the show’s second season will make its original premiere date.

Blackman made his announcement on Instagram with a shot of The Umbrella Academy’s behind-the-scenes crew working in a mixing booth. Although social distancing guidelines are currently in effect, Blackman promised viewers that his team is being extra careful. You can check out what he had to say below.

The Umbrella Academy started production on its sophomore season last summer and wrapped filming in November. Last month, Netflix released new character posters that only showed the characters’ eyes, which made it difficult to tell who was who. In addition to the first season’s returning cast members, the upcoming episodes will also introduce new characters played by Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, and Marin Ireland.

Season 2 of The Umbrella Academy will debut on Netflix later this year.
