The Walking Dead Season 10 Finale Will End Early on April 5

For the past few weeks, The Walking Dead has been planning to close its tenth season with an epic finale. However, this was before the novel coronavirus hit and resulted in work stoppages across the globe. And unfortunately, members of the TWD behind-the-scenes crew have felt those effects as well.

AMC has confirmed that post-production on the April 12 finale, “A Certain Doom,” could not be completed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. With this, the network has made the decision to end the The Walking Dead’s current season one week earlier than expected. The season’s fifteenth episode, “The Tower,” will serve as the new finale and air on April 5. AMC will air the follow-up episode sometime later this year as a special installment.

Additionally, the network has shared new key art for the planned finale, which is still without a new release date. The poster features Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon walking among a horde of zombies. You can check it out for yourself below.

This isn’t the Walking Dead universe’s first brush with the coronavirus. Like many other TV shows and films, both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead were recently forced to suspend filming to prevent the spread of the disease. Fear was in the midst of production on its sixth season, while the flagship series was reportedly targeting a May start date for season 11. AMC also decided to postpone the premiere of the franchise’s newest spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. That show will now debut sometime later in the year as well.
