DC Universe Shares New Images of Brec Bassinger as Stargirl

Following today’s announcement that Stargirl will finally hit DC Universe this summer, the streaming service has offered fresh looks at Brec Bassinger’s new superhero. Via Heroic Hollywood, two new images of Bassinger as the series’ title character have shown up online. You can check them out for yourself below.

Both of the stills show Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore wielding the cosmic staff both in and out of costume. As HH notes, the pics could very easily have been taken from the series’ first trailer, which was released in December. Regardless, it’s still a treat to see how faithful the costume is to Courtney’s comic book counterpart.

Bassinger’s character won’t be alone as she takes up crimefighting to fill the void that Starman (Joel McHale) left behind. The series will also introduce the newest live-action incarnation of the Justice Society of America. Its members include Hourman (Lou Ferrigno, Jr.), Wildcat (Brian Stapf), and Doctor Mid-Nite (Henry Thomas). Appropriately enough, the team will face off against Injustice Society staples like Tigress (Joy Osmanski), Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins), and Dragon King (Nelson Lee). Courtney will also work closely with Starman’s old sidekick, Pat Dugan, a.k.a. S.T.R.I.P.E. (Luke Wilson).

Stargirl co-creator Geoff Johns is showrunning the new series alongside Melissa Carter. Glen Winter, a veteran of several other DC shows, directed the pilot episode.

Stargirl will premiere on DC Universe on May 11. It will also air its first episode on The CW on May 12.
