Batman Prequel Pennyworth Gets Season 2 At Epix

The early days of Alfred Pennyworth will continue onward. Epix has given Pennyworth a renewal for season two, with the series set to return to production in January 2020.

Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike,” said Epix president Michael Wright in a statement. “It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it. Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must watch series. We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season.”

The show depicts Alfred in his earlier days, long before becoming a loyal ally to Batman. Jack Bannon plays Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier, who decides to work alongside Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge).

The first season ended with a rather explosive finale  that involves Alfred’s own father. The aftermath will obviously unfold as the second season begins. There isn’t a season 2 premiere date just yet. But since it’s about to enter production, a 2020 premiere is still likely. As with its debut season, it will consist of ten episodes.
