Batwoman Gets Review Bombed on Rotten Tomatoes

The premiere episode of Batwoman had strong ratings earlier this week. However, it’s not all good news for the series over at Rotten Tomatoes. The website currently shows an Audience Score of only eight percent, as the show has apparently become a victim of the “review bomb” phenomenon.

One critic, Antonio C., simply noted, “Anyway to give this show a 0/5 it was straight up trash!!!” Carlos S., simply said, “awful this era horrible.” Most of the reviews lack substance or an actual critique of the show. However, there are some bad reviews that go a little more in-depth. They specifically target the writing and acting of the series.

Another writer, John G., went into more specifics. “It’s insane how lazy and vapid this script was. Also several setups for huge plot points all revealed in the first episode. Why? The acting is terrible and again lazy not even bothering to make a head wound when she gets blasted with a bat in the face!”

Chris J. provided slight optimism with his review. “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the first episode felt flat overall and, sometimes, oddly, felt to be aggressively to hate comic books. I don’t know, I’ll hang in for a few episodes because I do like CW shows.”

Back in March, Captain Marvel was also targeted with negative reviews. However, those reviews were less about the film itself and primarily targeted at Brie Larson. Those review bombing tactics failed to dissuade moviegoers, who made Captain Marvel into a $1.1 billion worldwide hit for Marvel Studios.

So far, Batwoman has a big ratings hit for The CW. It remains to be seen if the latest review bomb campaign has any affect on the show.
