Alexander Skarsgard Cast As Randall Flagg In CBS’ The Stand

CBS All Access’ take on Stephen King’s The Stand officially has its Man In Black. Collider recently reported that Alexander Skarsgard would star as the villainous Randall Flagg in the 10 episode series.

Skarsgard is coming off a role in HBO’s Big Little Lies; which won him an Emmy, a SAG Award, and a Golden Globe. He also appeared in the HBO series True Blood (pictured above) as well as The Legend of Tarzan. He’ll also star in Godzilla vs. Kong when it debuts next year. Within the series, Skarsgard will be joined by X-Men alum James Marsden, Amber Heard, Brad William Henke, and Jovan Adepo.

Flagg is a pivotal character in The Stand; which follows the aftermath of an outbreak that nearly wipes out humanity. Flagg runs Las Vegas in a truly demonic fashion and attempts to lead the survivors down a dark path. His rival, Mother Abigail, offers a peaceful haven for survivors as the two factions slide towards war.

Stephen King recently made an appearance on The View to talk about four other cast members joining the series. These include Adepo as Larry Underwood, along with Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Henke as Tom Cullen, and Daniel Sunjata as Cobb. King also confirmed he’s writing the tenth and final episode of the series. He noted he’s adding a new “coda” that wasn’t in his original novel.

Josh Boone and Ben Cavell are handling writing duties on the other episodes, with Boone also directing. It will premiere on CBS All Access in 2020.
