Superman’s homeworld is doomed! But it wasn’t Doomsday, Brainiac, Zod, or Rogol Zaar that finished off SYFY’s prequel series, Krypton. Instead, the show’s Kryptonite was simply bad ratings.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Krypton has been cancelled after two seasons. As noted by THR, Krypton‘s second season averaged only 408,000 viewers. The second season finale only brought in 350,000 same day viewers when it dropped earlier this week. The series premiere drew 1.8 million viewers in 2018, when factoring in DVR figures.
Additionally, SYFY has opted not to go forward with the Lobo spinoff series starring Emmett J. Scanlan. Lobo made his live-action debut during Krypton season 2, with Scanlan in a recurring role.

Although Krypton season 1 is streaming on DC Universe, the report doesn’t seem to hold out much hope for a revival. However, there may be a chance that Lobo could still go forward. Warner Horizon is reportedly going to shop the series around and try to find it a new home. Cameron Welsh, Krypton‘s showrunner, is overseeing the potential Lobo spinoff.
SYFY has recently been cutting off its comic book adaptations. Deadly Class was canceled after only a single season, while Happy! had two seasons before the ax came down.
