Star Trek: The Next Generation Picard Box Set Coming This Fall

Although Star Trek: Picard won’t launch until sometime in 2020, CBS Home Entertainment is going all out to give the Captain his due. He’ll get his own Star Trek Blu-Ray home video set this fall, which will set the tone for fans when the series eventually does arrive on the on-demand service.

The Star Trek: Picard Movie & TV Collection will debut on Blu-Ray on October 15, per the official Star Trek site. The six-disc set will feature both films and TV adventures of Jean-Luc Picard. These include Star Trek: GenerationsStar Trek: First ContactStar Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis. Additionally, there will be theatrical length edits for two key Star Trek: The Next Generation two-part episodes –“The Best of Both Worlds”and “Chain of Command.” The official cover art is below.

This box set will also feature more than ten hours of extras, with commentaries from the directors and other creators, including Jonathan Frakes, David Carson, and others. There will also be behind-the-scenes footage, character and actor features, deleted scenes, gag reels, episode promos, and more.

Finally, a limited edition 16-page Star Trek comic book will also be included, produced by IDW Publishing. It’s called Star Trek: Sky’s the Limit, and features Jean-Luc Picard on the cover alongside the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Following its release in the U.S. on the 15th, the Star Trek: Picard set will also arrive in other markets. These include the UK on October 21, Australia on October 23, and Germany on November 7. A price isn’t available just yet.

For fans of the legendary Captain, this looks to be a must-own. And it’s sure to bring up lots of nostalgia for fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation– as if the most recent trailer didn’t do that already.
