Arrow Promotes Katherine McNamara For the Final Season

As Arrow heads into its final season, the show has locked in one of last season’s standouts. According to Deadline, Katherine McNamara has been promoted to a series regular for Arrow season 8.

Last season on Arrow, Katherine McNamara was introduced as Mia/Blackstar during the flash forward sequences. Eventually, the show revealed that Mia was the daughter of Green Arrow/Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak. Mia went on to join the future incarnation of Team Arrow and she helped them save Star City. Afterwards, the surviving Team Arrow veterans passed the torch to Mia and the new generation.

Joseph David-Jones also resigned to reprise his role as Mia’s friend and partner, Connor Hawke. In the future timeline, Connor is the adoptive son of John and Lyla Diggle. This likely means that Ben Lewis will also return as William Clayton, the future incarnation of Oliver’s son. It also suggests that the flash forwards will remain a key part of the series in its remaining episodes.

Arrow season 8 premieres this October on The CW. The final season began production this week, and it will only run for ten episodes. It will also lead into the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
