Wynonna Earp Season 4 Will Premiere in 2020

For the last few months, the future has been looking bleak for SYFY’s Wynnona Earp. The series has developed a cult following since it premiered back in 2016. However, financial troubles recently cast doubt on whether the network would produce any more seasons. But the heroine won’t be riding off into the sunset just yet. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that SYFY has set a 2020 premiere date for the series’ fourth season.

There was one key issue holding up Wynonna Earp season 4: money. IDW Entertainment had trouble securing additional funding to keep the show going. IDW licenses the series to SYFY and also takes care of production costs. Despite this speed bump, the network insisted that it remained “committed” to the show’s continuation.

Apparently, Wynonna Earp’s Canadian distributor, Space, and SYFY poured money into the series to keep it going. IDW is also enlisting Cineflix Studios as a co-producer to distribute the episodes to other international markets. This will presumably “stabilize” any existing financial difficulties.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we get to make more Wynonna Earp, and are grateful to our networks and partners for working hard to ensure we can,” said showrunner Emily Andras. “This is an enormous testament to our passionate and fierce fans, the Earpers, who remind us every day how to fight like hell for the things you love with wit, ferocity and kindness.”
