The fight against evil on DC Universe’s Titans just got a lot deadlier. According to The Wrap, Esai Morales has been added to the cast of the show’s second season as Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke.
Morales initially garnered attention as a series regular on NYPD Blue, which he starred on for four seasons from 2001-2004. He has also appeared in the films La Bamba and the SuperFly remake. Recently, Morales had recurring roles on NCIS: Los Angeles, How to Get Away with Murder, and National Geographic’s Mars.

Deathstroke has appeared in various media since his creation in 1980. Most famously, Ron Perlman voiced the mercenary on Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans animated series. In live-action, the character has appeared on Smallville and Arrow. Joe Manganiello played Deathstroke in a post-credits scene in 2017’s Justice League. He was originally expected to be the main villain in Warner Bros.’ The Batman. However, it’s currently unclear if Manganiello will reprise his role at all.
Titans producer Geoff Johns previously teased that the series would introduce Slade Wilson at last year’s New York Comic-Con. According to Johns (via ComicBook.com), Titans’ take on Deathstroke “will be a new version” of the character. It’s not clear what he meant by that, but since the show is already pretty dark, it’s hard to imagine them making him more vicious.
DC Universe hasn’t set a date for Titans season 2, but it’s likely to begin near the end of this year. How do you think Esai Morales will fare as Deathstroke? Let us know in the comment section below!
