The Mandalorian Adds Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, and More

Lucasfilm has at long last revealed the major players for next year’s Star Wars live- action series, The Mandalorian. The cast was announced at StarWars.com.

The new additions to show’s roster include Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man). Additionally, former Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal is confirmed to be starring in the series. He’ll play the titular gunfighter who roams the galaxy’s outer reaches after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Pascal starred in the Netflix original series, Narcos, for three seasons. He will also co-star in 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984.

Also starring on The Mandalorian are the previously announced cast members: Gina Carano (Deadpool) and Nick Nolte (48 Hrs.). Unfortunately, there are currently no details as to who these actors are playing.

Jon Favreau is writing and executive producing The Mandalorian, which began production in October. He’ll be joined behind the scenes by executive producer Dave Filoni, creator of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and co-creator of its follow-up, Star Wars: Rebels. Filoni will direct the series’ first episode, and subsequent installments will be helmed by a rotating cast of A-list talent. The directing lineup includes Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).

The Mandalorian is still without a specific release date. However, the show will premiere on Disney+ in 2019.
