“Not Even God Can Stop That Now.”

Daredevil Season 3 Episode 2 Recap

Matt avoids capture from the police after saving a kidnapping victim. But his inability to perform physically as he did before the explosion brings him to tears upon his return to Clinton Church. Sister Maggie is there to pick him up and criticize his pride in returning to the streets before fully recovering.  The conversation quickly moves to the idea of purpose as Matt compares his role as Daredevil to Maggie’s calling as a nun. While Maggie struggled with her devotion to God, she ultimately chose to fulfill her purpose, Matt feels his purpose has been taken away. It seems that the same criticisms of Matt’s ability to harness his anger as a child still exist.

Matt is reminded of his ability to hear the prayers of others. When confronted by Father Lantom, Matt says he believed that God allowed him to hear their prayers so he could answer them after Lantom told him that the Lord speaks in whispers as a child. Matt now believes his only delusion was that God had any involvement in the process, affirming the belief to Lantom with the words “I’m Daredevil. Not even God can stop that now.”
