James Purefoy Has a V For Vendetta

James Purefoy (“Vanity Fair”) will star opposite Natalie Portman in V For Vendetta, an adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novels that Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers are producing for Warner Bros. Pictures.

V For Vendetta takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war that changed the face of the planet. In a world without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts.

Andy and Larry Wachowski wrote the screenplay, which is based on the 10-issue series by Moore and illustrator David Lloyd. James McTeigue, who was the first assistant director on the Wachowskis’ “Matrix” trilogy, is directing. Filming is scheduled to take place in Berlin beginning in early March for a November 4 release.
