Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Enterprises said Thursday that they have settled Marvel’s lawsuits over the handling of its “Spider-Man” and “Men in Black” franchises. The surprise settlement was described only as amicable, and representatives on both sides privately expressed great relief at the successful conclusion of a lengthy settlement process. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“The two companies will continue their successful relationship on future chapters of ‘Spider-Man,’ as well as other previously announced development projects based on Marvel characters including ‘Ghost Rider’ and ‘Luke Cage,'” according to a joint statement released by Sony and Marvel.
