Invincible‘s Steven Yeun will join the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender to voice a character in the franchise’s upcoming film. The renowned animated series originally made its television debut in 2005 and tells the story of Aang, the last survivor of the Air Nomads, who sets out on a journey to fulfill his destiny as the new Avatar and bring peace to warring nations. After fast becoming a fan-favorite, it spawned an animated sequel series, a live-action series, and a largely panned live-action movie adaptation. The original Nickelodeon series is now expanding with a new animated movie that will feature the voices of Yeun and many other accomplished actors.
Steven Yeun joins Dave Bautista in upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie
Steven Yeun has officially signed to voice a character in the forthcoming Avatar film. It will be a joint venture between Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. However, the character Yeun will be lending his voice to has not yet been revealed.
Yeun is no stranger to the Avatar franchise. The two-time Golden Globe Award winner was a part of Avatar’s spin-off series, The Legend of Korra, in which he voiced the character of Wan, the first Avatar.
Aside from Steven Yeun, the untitled animated Aang Avatar film will also feature the voices of Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, and Román Zaragoza. Lauren Montgomery and William Mata will direct the film. Meanwhile, Maryann Garger and Latifa Ouaou will produce the movie alongside the creators of The Last Airbender series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, as per Variety.
While the makers of the upcoming Avatar film have already revealed a lot of the voice cast, plot details about the movie are currently still under wraps. However, more details are likely soon to follow Yeun’s casting announcement as the film is currently on track to hit theatres on January 30, 2026.
