Actor Brandon Sklenar recently showed his interest in becoming Batman in the upcoming DCU movie The Brave and the Bold.
Discussions and theories about who will play Batman in James Gunn’s DCU have been going around the internet since the movie’s announcement. The Brave and the Bold was announced by DC co-CEO James Gunn in 2023, with intentions for the film to focus on the relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian.
It Ends with Us’ Brandon Sklenar approves his Batman fan-casting for DCU
Brandon Sklenar, who plays Atlas Corrigan in the 2024 romantic movie It Ends with Us, has expressed his desire to play Batman in the new DCU.
Sklenar shared his thoughts after a user on Instagram named LiamLovesMovies shared fan art of David Corenswet’s Superman alongside Sklenar in the Batsuit. Sklenar commented on the post simply with, “I approve.” The original poster then stated that Sklenar “would make the perfect Batman” in reply to the actor’s comment.
Following this, many other fans on the social media platform replied to his comment and asked James Gunn to consider Sklenar for Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Notably, Blake Lively, who starred opposite Brandon Sklenar in It Ends with Us, has joined his fanbase in urging Gunn to cast him as Batman. After Sklenar’s casting in The Olympian in November 2024, Lively commented on one of the actor’s Instagram posts to congratulate him. However, she further addressed the discussions about casting him as Batman and wrote, “I’m seeing this Batman chatter. I volunteer yourself as tribute. @jamesgunn (James Gunn) knows how to give the people what they need. And this, they need.”
Development on The Brave and the Bold has gone at a slow pace compared to many other Batman projects but Gunn has stated that the movie is in development. Gunn said about the project, “Until we have a screenplay that I’m totally happy with, that movie is not going to get made, no matter what it is.”
