Josh Brolin Could Still Appear in DCU, Shares Darkseid Fan Art

After reportedly renewing talks with DC Studios over a role in the DC Universe, Josh Brolin has shared a piece of BossLogic art imagining himself (as his Marvel character Thanos) as the DC supervillain Darkseid.

Josh Brolin could have been the DCU’s Hal Jordan

DC Studios has seemingly been trying to get Brolin attached to its DCU since last year. The actor was initially offered the role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the forthcoming HBO series Lanterns. However, the actor passed on the casting opportunity, with Kyle Chandler later joining the production as the fan-favorite Green Lantern, opposite Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.

Amid reports that Brolin and DC are still in talks, artist BossLogic shared a piece on social media, imagining Brolin’s Thanos — a role he played in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe movies — as Darkseid. The DC supervillain was originally intended to play a major role in the former DC Extended Universe under the Zack Snyder era of the franchise.

“The rumour whispers going around is that #joshbrolin is still in talks for something big in the DCU, Josh and DC have the biggest opportunity to do the funniest thing,” BossLogic captioned the artwork, which he posted on X and Instagram. Brolin subsequently reshared the post on his Instagram Story, which fans have taken to mean that the actor is indeed still in talks with DC Studios.

At the time of writing, there is currently no Justice League movie in development at DC Studios, at least one that has been publicly announced. Additionally, co-CEO James Gunn has not hinted at Darkseid being brought back for the DCU following his brief role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It is also worth noting that Brolin liking and resharing BossLogic’s art does not imply that the actor is in talks to play Darkseid for the DCU. Until Brolin and/or DC Studios officially announce the former’s casting, fans should take all rumors of Brolin joining the DCU with a grain of salt.
