A recent MCU speculation has indicated that Channing Tatum could reprise his role as Gambit in the upcoming Avengers movies. Following an early announcement in the 2010s, Tatum finally stepped into the shoes of the card-wielding superhero this year in the immensely successful Deadpool & Wolverine. His cameo garnered much appreciation from fans and critics alike and instantly generated rumors about his potential return as the iconic mutant. From the looks of it, talks of Tatum appearing as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are reportedly underway as we speak.
Channing Tatum’s Gambit could join Professor X and Beast in Avengers 5 or 6
According to a recent rumor, the MCU executives are considering recalling major characters from “previous Marvel Legacy films,” including Gambit, for the forthcoming Avengers sequels.
It was shared by The Cosmic Circus‘ Alex Perez in the website’s latest Discord Q&A session. While talking about the superheroes that fans might be able to see in Avengers 5 and 6, Perez claimed that “nothing and no one is off limits” before shedding light on the possibility of Channing Tatum’s Gambit appearance.
“Charles Xavier and Beast for sure are in it. I heard we’re getting Tatum’s Gambit as well. Outside of that, not 100% sure yet,” the internet scooper noted. He then provided details on the MCU’s future post its multiversal arc, stating that “the countdown to Annihilation” would begin shortly after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
Notably, Annihilation refers to a 2006 crossover event in Marvel comics that majorly revolved around their space-based character roster. This involved fan-favorite heroes and villains such as Nova, the Silver Surfer, a few Guardians of the Galaxy members, as well as the menacing Annihilus.
Despite the positive update, Marvel has yet to share any news on the fate of Channing Tatum, or any X-Men character for that matter, in the much-awaited Avengers sequels. At the time of writing, Avengers: Doomsday will hit the big screens on May 1, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars will have its theatrical release on May 7, 2027, as per the current schedule.
