Jeff Fowler says he can’t imagine any other actor playing Dr. Robotnik
Jeff Fowler was recently present for a conversation, where he answered a question regarding whether he had a plan to recast Jim Carrey as Robotnik after Sonic 3.
Fowler expressed having the Dumb and Dumber star as Robotnik was a delight to watch. He stated to ComicBook, “Honestly, I can’t imagine anyone other than Jim playing Robotnik. But where we go from here, there’s going to need to be a lot of discussion about what the next steps are, and a lot of it.”
The director added that future plans for Robotnik are still not decided yet as they “will obviously have to wait though, until this (Sonic the Hedgehog 3) comes out and we see where things land.” When further asked whether he has any ideas for future Sonic projects, Jeff Fowler told the outlet, “Oh, I’ve always got ideas.”
Jim Carrey returned to play Doctor Robotnik for the third Sonic movie, which is coming to theaters on December 20, 2024. In the movie, which also features Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba, and Ben Schwartz, he is doing a double role, one of Doctor Robotnik and the other of Robotnik’s grandfather.
As Doctor Robotnik, Carrey has amassed much love from audiences worldwide for his portrayal. Previously, while talking to the Associated Press, the actor called the character “a genius.”
