Kyle Chandler’s Green Lantern Series Look for Hal Jordan Possibly Revealed

James Gunn’s revamped DCU is gradually expanding, and fans now seem to have received their first glimpse at Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern series, titled Lanterns. The HBO show was one of the first projects that Gunn announced when he took over proceedings at DC Studios. Since then, the veteran filmmaker has shared several updates regarding the plot and cast of the series. However, a recent update appears to have given away what Chandler’s character may look like in the show.

Kyle Chandler’s new image hints at his Hal Jordan look in Green Lantern series

An image is currently circulating on the internet, in which Kyle Chandler is seen standing beside a fan, sporting a fresh look. Many eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out the uncanny resemblance between Chandler’s new style and a particular version of Hal Jordan he will be playing in the Green Lantern series.

The update, shared by Everything_DCU, showcases a rugged Chandler with mid-length hair and a full-fledged, medium-gray beard. This look holds a striking resemblance to Hal Jordan’s appearance in Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko’s acclaimed graphic novel series, Green Lantern: Earth One. As such, several fans have speculated that this could be the style that Kyle Chandler would don in Lanterns.

The show, described by Gunn as “very grounded, very believable, and very real,” will center around the escapades of a seasoned Hal Jordan, who teams up with Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, the latest recruit in the Green Lantern Corps, to solve a murder mystery. Therefore, it makes sense why fans would think Kyle Chandler’s latest look could make it into the Lanterns’ final cut. Nevertheless, the theory does not have any official confirmation as of yet.

Hal Jordan’s last theatrical appearance came in 2011’s critically panned Green Lantern movie, which featured Ryan Reynolds in the titular role. Unlike Kyle Chandler’s jagged look, Reynolds portrayed a clean-shaven Hal Jordan, along with a computer-generated supersuit.

The much-awaited Green Lantern series does not have an official release date at the time of writing. However, Gunn’s statements suggest that the show could hit the screen sometime in 2026.
