DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed that production has concluded on Peacemaker Season 2, starring John Cena.
In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Gunn announced that filming had wrapped on the second season of the Max superhero series. “And that is a WRAP on #Peacemaker season 2, including our last remaining actors Steve Agee, Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez & Brandon Stanley (& our DP Sam McCurdy pictured here moments after the last shot.),” Gunn wrote. “Thanks to our entire cast & crew who made this a wonderful experience. My relief to have a break from shooting after ten months straight is countered by how much I’ll miss all of you!”

When does Peacemaker Season 2 premiere on Max?
Filming on Peacemaker Season 2 began with a “pre-shoot” in April 2024, with principal photography officially commencing that June. With shooting wrapped, the series moves into post-production, where the crew will have roughly nine months to edit and put together the eight-episode second season ahead of its August 2025 premiere on Max.
While plot details for Peacemaker Season 2 remain under wraps, Gunn has confirmed that the events of Season 1 are almost entirely canon in the DC Universe, despite the first season taking place in the DC Extended Universe. The only part of Season 1 that is no longer canon is the Justice League cameo in the finale.
Besides Cena, the cast for Peacemaker Season 2 includes Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee — who are all returning from the first season as Leota Adebayo, Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Emilia Harcourt, and John Economos, respectively — as well as Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux and Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury.
David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. Clair, and Dorian Kingi have additionally been cast in undisclosed roles, while Frank Grillo reprises his role from the adult animated series Creature Commandos as Rick Flag Sr., the father of the late Rick Flag Jr., who was portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in the two DCEU Suicide Squad movies.
Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to premiere on Max in August 2025.
