Sony’s Japanese press release hints at Tom Hardy’s Venom for Spider-Man 4

Sony Japan recently issued a press release regarding Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, scheduled for a 2026 summer release in Japan, with a U.S. release date set for July 24, 2026.

The translated press release highlights Tom Holland’s excitement for the new story, quoting him as saying, “This will be a real movie that fans can respect.” Additionally, it poses the question, “Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the ‘Venom’ series, ready to take part?” This statement has reignited discussions about a crossover between Spider-Man and Venom.

The release also references past comments by Hardy about Venom’s future. During the New York premiere of Venom: The Last Dance, Hardy stated, “Venom’s story is not over yet. He still has a lot to do.”

On the topic of working with Holland, Hardy remarked, “Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man. I would like to work with him. If someone needs me, I’d be happy to participate.” These translated comments, included in the Japanese press release, suggest the possibility of Venom’s continued presence in Marvel-related projects.

However, in a separate interview, Hardy tempered expectations for Spider-Man 4, saying, “I don’t see him in the next Spider-Man movie because I’d have the script, and I don’t have that.” This indicates there is no official confirmation of his involvement. Despite this, the idea of a crossover persists, particularly given Sony’s ongoing hints and efforts to unite these characters.

Spider-Man 4, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, marks the next chapter in the franchise, while Venom: The Last Dance, currently in theaters, concludes the Venom trilogy. Fans will need to wait for further updates to confirm whether these two iconic characters will finally share the screen.
