As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, it has been adding new actors and filmmakers to its roster, and per industry scoopers, one of these actors could be Rachel Zegler. The 23-year-old actress portrays the eponymous character in the upcoming live-action feature Snow White.
Marvel rumored to be eyeing Rachel Zegler for new MCU role
Scooper MyTimeToShineHello claimed on their X (formerly, Twitter) handle, @MyTimeToShineH, that Rachel Zegler was on Marvel’s radar for a role in the MCU. However, the scooper did not reveal what that role might be.
“Marvel Studios wants Rachel Zegler for a role,” MyTimeToShineHello wrote in the caption of their post. “Which role do you think she should play?”
Notably, Zegler has been acting since she was 12 years old. She essayed various roles in a series of school plays and was active on social media before landing the role of Maria in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021). Zegler has since portrayed Anthea in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Lucy Gray Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Laura in 2024’s Y2K.
Moreover, the actress will provide the voice of Princess Ellian in the upcoming animated musical adventure fantasy comedy Spellbound, slated to release on November 22, 2024. Meanwhile, Snow White is scheduled to come out in US theaters on March 21, 2025.
Rachel Zegler is one most talked-about young actors of today, so it’s quite understandable why Marvel might be eyeing her to star in one of their projects. If this is indeed the case, she wouldn’t be the first actor to make the transition between DC and Marvel.
Ryan Reynolds portrayed Wade Wilson / Deadpool / Weapon XI in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine before playing Hal Jordan / Green Lantern in the 2011 critical and commercial disaster Green Lantern. He then played Deadpool again in 2016’s Deadpool, and the rest is history. Even Zachary Levi, Zegler’s co-star in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, appeared as Fandral in the MCU before being cast as William “Billy” Batson / Shazam in DC.
