The MCU appears to be actively trying to move past the multiversal chaos of Phases 4 and 5, as evidenced by its upcoming slate of projects. Following the announcement of Robert Downey Jr.’s return, Marvel fans are arguably most excited for the much-awaited arrival of the Avengers sequels. However, one forthcoming project that cannot seem to escape its production limbo is Mahershala Ali’s Blade. After confirming the movie in 2019, Marvel Studios has failed to provide any encouraging updates regarding the R-rated flick. Despite the roadblocks, Kevin Feige recently came out to assure fans that the Blade movie hasn’t been canceled.
Kevin Feige gives positive update on Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie
The veteran Marvel executive stated that the creative team behind Blade is presently working to figure out a coherent way to introduce Mahershala Ali’s anti-hero into the MCU mix.
Feige conveyed this update during a recent interview with Omelete. In the discussion, the accredited producer acknowledged the consistent problems associated with the movie’s release. “Rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still trying to understand how it fits into our agenda, we inform the public,” Feige said. “You guys are up to date with what’s going on,” he added.
However, he also assured fans of Ali’s eventual introduction as Blade in the future. “I can say that the character will indeed arrive in the MCU,” Feige guaranteed. The Iron Man producer then expressed his appreciation for the iconic character, going as far as claiming that the team “love Mahershala’s version of him.”
Following multiple delayed premiere schedules, Mahershala Ali’s Blade was provided with an official release date of November 7, 2025. Nevertheless, the movie was removed from its 2025 release calendar last month. Despite its numerous postponements and creative disagreements, Ali has remained a part of the project.
At the time of writing, Blade does not have any confirmed window for its theatrical release.
