With Venom 3 done and dusted, Kraven the Hunter is the next project in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. It will be the first SSU film to be rated R. If a new rumor is to be believed, Kraven will also have the longest runtime, and possibly be even better in quality than Venom: The Last Dance.
Kraven the Hunter is reportedly better than Venom: The Last Dance
Almost all of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe movies have struggled to impress audiences and critics alike. While Morbius and Madame Web failed miserably, the Venom trilogy did find its audience worldwide and became profitable. However, familiar industry insider and Marvel scooper Daniel Richtman recently took to his Patreon account to state that Kraven could be better than Venom: The Last Dance.
He also revealed the film’s runtime and wrote:
“Kraven runtime is 1:59:30 and I hear the movie is ok. Better than Venom 3.”
So far, all SSU movies have played for less than two hours. Madame Web was the closest to the two-hour benchmark with 116 minutes. But, as Richtman states, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter could be even longer than that. However, it still won’t cross the two-hour threshold.
Since Richtman’s scoops have blown hot and cold in the past, his latest runtime intel could be taken with a grain of salt. But, if it turns out to be true, then here’s how Kraven the Hunter would compare against all past SSU films:
- Venom: Let There Be Carnage – 97 minutes
- Morbius – 104 minutes
- Venom: The Last Dance – 109 minutes
- Venom – 112 minutes
- Madame Web – 116 minutes
- Kraven the Hunter – 119 minutes
Similar to the Venom trilogy, Kraven the Hunter could benefit from a less than 120-minute runtime. This would allow it to have one extra screening per day and cater to a larger number of people.
Kraven the Hunter hits theaters on December 13.
