Following Venom: The Last Dance’s success, a new rumor reveals how Sony plans to move forward with Venom 4. Whether Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock isn’t confirmed yet, but the rumor suggests a new direction with Agent Venom coming into play.
Agent Venom rumored to lead Part 4 following The Last Dance
After Venom: The Last Dance’s ending, many wondered how Sony could continue with more movies. Venom has proven to be the most successful SSU franchise with the first film making $856 million, and Let There Be Carnage grossing $506 million globally. Venom: The Last Dance recently enjoyed a stronghold in its second box office weekend, reaching $317 million worldwide. So, it would make sense for Sony to continue with the franchise.
Familiar Marvel scooper @DanielRPK recently revealed that an Agent Venom movie is in development, and Sony is planning to take the franchise forward with him at the forefront. Whether Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock will return for the project hasn’t been revealed, but based on Daniel Richtman’s track record, the rumor needs to be taken with a grain of salt until an official announcement comes from Sony.
In Marvel comics, Peter Parker’s high school frenemy Flash Thompson goes on to bond with the Venom Symbiote. He joins the military after leaving school and gets severely wounded while serving the country in the Middle East. Following the battle, his legs were amputated, leaving him in a depressed state. However, he was then recruited for “Project Rebirth,” where he bonded with the Venom Symbiote.
His battle experience and combat abilities allowed him to be successful in covert missions, and quickly granted him the moniker of Agent Venom. He started as a government-controlled agent but went on to become an independent superhero.
So with this backstory, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe could move forward with Flash Thompson in the lead for Venom 4. However, nothing is confirmed at the moment of writing.
