Agatha All Along Creator Explains Why Hulkling Did Not Appear

When Billy Maximoff’s boyfriend, Eddie, made a debut in Agatha All Along, many fans thought this could be the introduction of Teddy Altman, aka Hulkling, into the MCU. However, the show didn’t address Eddie as Hulkling. Recently, the creator of Agatha All Along, Jac Schaeffer, talked about how there were originally ideas to get Hulkling in the MCU in the form of Eddie and why they didn’t end up in the show.

Jac Schaeffer says Eddie was originally meant to be Hulkling in Agatha All Along

Many viewers of Agatha All Along were surprised to have Miles Gutierrez-Riley enter the MCU as Eddie, who is Billy Maximoff / William Kaplan’s boyfriend in Episode 6, “Familiar by Thy Side.” This heavily fueled speculations around Eddie being Hulkling, who is the Skrull/Kree hybrid lover of Billy in the comics and also a part of the Young Avengers, which is a project that has been anticipated by fans for a long time now.

However, there was no mention of Hulking in Agatha All Along, and the series ended on October 30. Recently, showrunner Jac Schaeffer was part of a conversation with Entertainment Weekly where she disclosed why Hulkling did not make an appearance in the series.

Schaeffer told EW of the initial plans to have Hulkling included in the series, and stated, “There were early conversations [about Hulkling]. [Eddie] was originally called Teddy because we were looking at the artwork and thinking about that.” She further addressed how the idea didn’t make it to the final plot of the show and said, “That was a Marvel decision to not have him be Hulkling for the purposes of our show. Within our show, he is not Hulkling but we pivoted to Eddie because he is named after a person that is important to the writers’ room.”

Schaeffer concluded by saying that having Eddie feature in the show was a type of tribute to the character of Hulkling.
