As fans look for clarity on the status of Marvel’s Armor Wars, writer Yassir Lester has provided an update on whether the film is canceled or still in development. While his statements are largely positive, there’s still no release date. Furthermore, he compared it to Mahershala Ali‘s Blade.
Yassir Lester says Armor Wars ‘won’t happen, then it’ll happen again’ like Blade
Armor Was hasn’t been canceled yet. But its future hangs in the balance as it hasn’t been given a release slot among Marvel’s unclaimed spots for 2026, 2027, and 2028. When asked about it, Yassir Lester stated that he isn’t “allowed to talk about anything, at any point, until it’s out in the world.”
Speaking to MovieWeb while endorsing his new movie The Gutter, he joked about strict rules around spoilers at Marvel and Disney saying, “So for fear of them killing my family while I’m on this Zoom… I’m kidding.”
But he continued to give an update, saying that Armor Wars is almost in a similar situation as Blade, which was recently delayed again. Commenting on the film’s status, he confirmed “Everything’s still in development,” and said:
“In the same way Blade [starring Mahershala Ali] goes away and comes back the next day, Armor Wars is — it’ll be a thing that happens every few months, then it won’t happen, then it’ll happen again.”
Armor Wars was first announced as a series in 2020. Later in 2022, the project was changed to make it a feature film. However, when it gets its production and release windows remains to be seen.
Armor Wars is set to focus on Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes, aka War Machine, following the events of Secret Invasion. But the actor recently stated that he hasn’t been kept in the loop about any updates on the film. He is still confirmed to star as the lead. But no other actors have been added to the project yet.
