Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales/Spider-Man in Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, recently opened up about how he would feel if a different actor was cast to portray the young superhero in a live-action Marvel movie.
Moore first voiced Miles in the 2018’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and reprised the role in the 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as well as in the 2024 tie-in short film, The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story. While Miles has currently only appeared in the animated medium, he was alluded to in the live-action movie Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) through the character’s uncle, Aaron Davis, played by Donald Glover (who subsequently reprised the role for a cameo in Across the Spider-Verse).
During a recent interview with ComicBook.com to promote his new movie The Gutter, Moore was asked how he would feel if another actor played Miles and if he would have any advice for them.
“Okay, my honest answer is that I would have to probably have a moment to myself in the mirror and accept,” the actor admitted. “But then secondly, it would be me knowing that everything happens for a reason and that that person has a responsibility that is placed on them. That kind of responsibility won’t fall on the wrong person. So it’ll be meant to be.”
As for advice, Moore would ask that person to “literally embrace who you are and how you’re going to execute this job. You know, and inspire the community, inspire humanity. That’s it. My advice is, if you ever need to call, you can.”

Is Sony planning on making a live-action Miles Morales movie?
While Sony has repeatedly teased a live-action Miles Morales movie, nothing has officially been announced yet. However, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal confirmed in February 2024 that one is being worked on. Despite this comment, fans shouldn’t expect to see the character in live-action anytime soon, as Pascal clarified that it wouldn’t happen “until we make two more [Spider-Verse] movies.”
The next animated Miles Morales movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, does not have a release date at this time.
