DC seems to have hit it out of the park with The Penguin in terms of small-screen content. While Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot has received much praise from critics, his on-screen rival, Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone, has arguably turned more heads than any other character on the show. As such, rumors have started surfacing that suggest that Sofia Falcone could make an appearance in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman Part 2.
The Penguin’s Sofia Falcone rumored for a big role in The Batman Part 2
The speculations seem to indicate that Cristin Milioti’s character would be occupying a major role in the much-awaited Batman sequel.
The said update was first published by MyTimeToShineHello on their X (formerly Twitter) profile. In the post, the known internet scooper claimed that Sofia, the daughter of deceased crime boss Carmine Falcone, will play a key part in the storyline of The Batman Part 2.
Check out the X post below:
Introduced in The Penguin, Sofia Falcone is a menacing antagonist who was forced to serve an extended sentence in Arkham Asylum for her late father’s crimes. However, Milioti’s character has since broken free from those shackles and has successfully taken over her father’s legacy.
In the latest episode of The Penguin, Sofia ditches the Falcone surname and replaces it with her mother’s maiden name, Gigante. Additionally, she rallies all the remaining troops following Johnny Viti’s murder to engage in an all-out war.
While official word on Sofia’s inclusion in The Batman Part 2 has yet to come out, there is ample room for her to make an appearance in the sequel. In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc revealed that the events of the miniseries will lead up to Reeves’ highly-anticipated sequel. “We are the bridge between the two films,” she said. “We’re going almost directly into the second film Matt has planned.”
As such, it is possible for Sofia Falcone, who serves as the backbone of The Penguin, to make the jump from TV to the big screens. At the time of writing, plot details regarding The Batman Part 2 remain under wraps. However, Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role as the caped crusader.
