At New York Comic Con 2024, James Gunn shared an update on the Superman (2025) trailer release date, revealing, “It won’t be too long until we see a trailer, but it’s also not going to be too soon.” Gunn clarified that while fans are eager for the trailer, there is no footage ready for release yet. He teased, “I have some stuff on my phone. I had it taken off me in case people attacked me,” emphasizing that security measures were in place to avoid leaks (via ScreenRant).

The film wrapped up filming in July 2024 and is currently in the editing phase. Gunn shared, “The edit is getting really close to being good. The movie’s good. I feel good about it.” Superman is set for release in July 2025, with marketing expected to kick off in the coming months.

During the same panel, Gunn praised David Corenswet, the new Man of Steel, stating, “David Corenswet is going to blow people the f**k away. He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be.” Gunn highlighted Corenswet’s range, saying, “I don’t think anyone understands the depth of this guy’s talent – dramatically, comedically – he’s the best physical action star I’ve ever worked with.”

The panel then saw a playful interaction between Gunn and actor Frank Grillo when Gunn added, “Probably except for… Frank [Grillo],” referring to Grillo, who was present at the event. Gunn also commended Rachel Brosnahan’s performance as Lois Lane, remarking, “People are going to die for her as Lois,” further boosting anticipation for the film.
