Tom Holland Reveals Thoughts on Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Return

Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland has finally expressed his thoughts on Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as the antagonist Doctor Victor Von Doom. The Iron Man star’s Marvel comeback was announced at the SDCC in July 2024. The announcement not only shocked superhero fanatics around the world but also earned reactions from his Marvel co-stars, like Elizabeth Olsen and Sebastian Stan.

Tom Holland says Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom return is ‘super exciting’ for MCU

Tom Holland was the latest guest on Rich Roll’s podcast, where the actor disclosed his thoughts on numerous things.

From talking about his first movie role to his non-alcoholic beer brand, Bero, Holland had a fun and long conversation with Roll. Amidst this, the host took the chance to know about the actor’s take on Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom.

Holland, infamous for his tendency to spoil big plot secrets, revealed that he and Downey Jr. were in contact. He also shared that they both have spoken “a lot especially about him making his return, which is super exciting.” Holland added, “That was a tough secret to sit on because I have a reputation for ruining things and I strategically have done no press.”

The internet has been anticipating a face-off between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom since the big reveal. This is considering the latter as Iron Man was the mentor of Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. While Downey Jr. will have a major role in Avengers: Doomsday, there is still no confirmation about the scale of Holland’s role in the movie.

Additionally, Tom Holland talked about Spider-Man 4 on Rich Roll’s podcast. He said, “I want to make another one, I want to make many more, but I want to do it for the right reasons.” Spider-Man 4 is currently under development at Marvel Studios, as previously confirmed by Kevin Feige.
