Sebastian Stan on Thunderbolts* Rewrites: ‘We Ended Up in a Better Spot’

Actor Sebastian Stan has recently confirmed that Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* has gone through multiple rewrites. One of the most anticipated projects of Marvel, Thunderbolts* is eyeing a release window of May 2025, with its promotional campaign set to begin soon. Recently, the Captain America: Winter Soldier star has been attending interviews and podcasts to chat about his movie, The Apprentice.

Sebastian Stan confirms Thunderbolts* rewrites

Sebastian Stan was a guest on the popular podcast Happy, Sad, Confused which is hosted by Josh Horowitz. In the podcast, which is almost 50 minutes long, Stan opened up about the rewrites that Thunderbolts* went through. Horowitz asks Stan about the initial script of Thunderbolts*, which is a “different version” of what fans will witness on the big screen.

Stan, after listening to him carefully, said, “There were a couple reiterations from what I’ve heard. There was a script that we had before the strike and then the one we ended up with. And I do feel like we ended up in a better spot. 100%.”

Additionally, Stan expressed his admiration for the director of Thunderbolts*, Jake Schreier, “I feel like what he brought to this movie is a whole other tone I think we haven’t quite seen yet. It’s funny, but it’s also real, and it just has the right balance of everything. I love working with him,” the actor said.

According to MovieWeb, the discussions around Thunderbolts* going through rewrites were at an all-time high in 2023. Originally the script was penned by Eric Pearson, but later, Beef writer Lee Sung Jin was brought on board. The speculated reason that went around was that Pearson’s draft focused more on the returning Black Widow characters.
