The X-Men fandom had to wait for a long time before they got to see Channing Tatum‘s Gambit on the big screen. Tatum was initially recruited to portray the card-wielding superhero during the X-Men’s Fox era. The project was ultimately scrapped after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019. Nevertheless, the fan-favorite casting finally came to fruition when Channing Tatum donned the Gambit mantle in Deadpool & Wolverine. As such, fans have raised several questions about the iconic mutant’s fate in the MCU. One hopeful admirer recently designed a video that humorously explored the possibility of Gambit combating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Fan video imagines Channing Tatum’s Gambit in Avengers: Endgame cameo
The video showcases an edited version of Avengers 4, where Remy LeBeau is seen fighting alongside Chris Evans’ Captain America and others.
The short snippet has attracted significant attention ever since it was uploaded on YouTube by ActiveSufi. The fan video reimagines the final battle of Endgame while coherently adding Gambit’s scenes from Deadpool & Wolverine to it. The witty superhero is seen entering the battlefield through Doctor Strange’s inter-dimensional portals instead of the original Avengers roster.
Channing Tatum’s Gambit makes several witty remarks before clashing with Thanos and his minions. His first strike hits Ebony Maw, which is followed by an explosive attack on the hovering ship. Gambit then proceeds to end the bout with a single blow as he beheads Thanos with a swift throw. The video ends with an edited scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Tatum’s character is seen reacting to one of James Rhodes’ jokes.
While most of the cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine served as homages to the legacy of Marvel characters, the MCU seemingly has future plans for Channing Tatum’s Gambit. A deleted scene from Deadpool 3 confirmed that Gambit had survived the movie’s events. Considering Marvel’s current plans with its multiversal saga, Tatum’s Gambit could make a surprise return in future projects. However, official updates regarding his fate in the MCU have yet to be shared by Marvel executives.
