Agatha All Along’s Joe Locke Has Never Met Elizabeth Olsen

The big reveal about Joe Locke‘s Teen being William Kaplan / Billy Maximoff / Wiccan came in Agatha All Along Episode 5. The sixth episode expanded on that, revealing how William Kaplan became Billy Maximoff and who placed the identity-concealing sigil on the boy. In interviews conducted between the fifth and sixth episodes, Locke spoke about his character and revealed that he hadn’t yet gotten the chance to speak to Elizabeth Olsen, who portrays Billy’s mother Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Teen’s connection to Wanda firmly establishes him in the MCU narrative. But, Locke clarified in multiple interviews that he hadn’t met Elizabeth Olsen yet, and said that he wanted to.

“I still haven’t,” the Heartstopper actor told ComicBook. “I think, when we did that day, Jac [Schaeffer] and Mary [Livanos] sent pictures of me in the crown…I’m yet to meet her. Obviously, I would love to.”

Although Locke didn’t interact with Olsen before portraying Billy, he worked with Jennifer White, the movement coach who previously collaborated with Olsen to create Wanda’s hand motions while performing magic.

“We worked to find similarities in both Billy and Wanda, the way they use their magic,” Locke shared with Entertainment Weekly. “Fans of the comic corner know that Billy’s powers are pretty much the same as Wanda’s with a few differences, so we wanted to find similarities with that, but also his own finesse,” he added.

The scene in which Billy uses his power on Agatha in Episode 5 was supposed to be a callback to Avengers: Age of Ultron. “In the script, it was written as ‘with a familiar-looking hand gesture, Teen swipes Agatha off the Road,” Locke revealed.

As with any MCU project, the internet is filled with speculations about Agatha All Along. Some believe that Billy might find Wanda at the end of the Witches’ Road, though, as Episode 6 clarifies, he is actually looking for his brother, Tommy. Given what Locke said, it’s likely that Wanda will not appear in the show, then again, his comment can be yet another example of Marvel trying not to spoil things for the audience.
