Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has experienced several roadblocks throughout its course, shelling out multiple sub-movies over the years. Nevertheless, the franchise continues to expand, having planned numerous projects ahead. After introducing Venom and Morbius, Sony will now be adding Kraven to their cinematic roster of Spider-Man antagonists. As such, rumors of Sony developing a Sinister Six movie have also resurfaced on the internet.

According to the speculations, Sony is supposedly eyeing for a Sinister Six flick. with a revamped line-up.
The idea of a movie featuring the villainous ensemble was first introduced to fans when Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man franchise was still alive. In a post-credit scene of the second film, the super-suits of several Spider-Man antagonists were highlighted, hinting at the possibility of a Sinister Six movie.
Drew Goddard of Cabin in the Woods fame was also recruited to pen the project’s script, according to Fiction Horizon. This iteration of the diabolical gang would have seen the likes of Rhino, Green Goblin, Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, and Kraven the Hunter come together to challenge Garfield’s web-slinger.
Nonetheless, the plans were seemingly scrapped after the poor box-office performance of Amazing Spider-Man 2. Nearly a decade later, Sony is now once again exploring the idea of developing a Sinister Six film, per MyTimeToShineHello. According to the internet scooper’s claims, the project is currently in works at Sony.
The speculation could hold some merit, as the SSU has already united two Spider-Man villains on the screen. The post-credits scene of 2022’s Morbius showcased an encounter between Jared Leto’s titular character and Michael Keaton’s Vulture. As such, a bridge was established for characters to travel between Sony’s universe as well as the MCU.
With Andrew Garfield also rumored to participate in future MCU projects, a Sinister Six movie could take place in the form of a crossover event. However, neither Sony nor Marvel Studios have shared any official update regarding the project yet.
