Harrison Ford Says Actors Avoiding Marvel Roles Is ‘Silly’

2025’s Captain America: Brave New World will introduce Harrison Ford to the Marvel franchise. The Indiana Jones star will be stepping into the shoes of Thunderbolt Ross, which was previously enacted by the late William Hurt. Ford’s character will also go through a transformation in the movie, causing him to turn into the villainous Red Hulk. While Harrison Ford’s inclusion into the MCU came as a surprise to many, the veteran actor has since reaffirmed his excitement for the upcoming Marvel projects on multiple occasions.

Harrison Ford says Marvel movies are ‘good experiences for an audience’

Commenting on the widespread consensus regarding the MCU’s critical appeal, Harrison Ford stated that avoiding the franchise is simply ‘silly.’

The 82-year-old thespian shared his views regarding the different eras of cinema during an interview with GQ. Ford explained how he comprehends the demand for movies of the current generation. “I understand the appeal of other kinds of films besides the kind we made in the ’80s and ’90s. I don’t have anything general to say about it,” he said while referencing new-age movies, such as the Marvel ones. “It’s the condition our condition is in, and things change and morph and go on.”

Ford then emphasized the importance of adapting to the changing times, my stating his own example. “We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate,” he admitted. “I’m participating in a new part of the business that, for me at least, I think is really producing some good experiences for an audience. I enjoy that.”

Having portrayed defining roles in fan-favorite franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford will now be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe via 2025’s Captain America 4. The Julius Onah-helmed movie will be coming out in theatres on February 14, 2025.
