New Iron Man Animated Series Gets First Details, Disney+ Release Window

Marvel Studios and Disney have jointly announced Iron Man and His Awesome Friends, an upcoming animated preschool series set to arrive on Disney Jr. and Disney+ in summer 2025.

The series, which is currently in production, will focus on three young superheroes — Tony Stark/Iron Man, Riri Williams/Ironheart, and Amadeus Cho/Iron Hulk — “as they work together to solve problems both big and small and protect their city.”

The logline also reads, “To help them in their Super Hero endeavors, they each have their own Iron Suits that allow them to fly and give them each enhanced super-strength. In addition, Iron Man has a Nano-Shield; Ironheart has a Heartbeat Bubble forcefield to protect people, and Iron Hulk has his strong Iron Boom clap and Iron Hulk Stomp. They work out of their beachfront base, Iron Quarters (IQ), under the supervision of their superpowered android, Vision, and their furry pup, Gamma, who has her very own Iron Pup suit and accompanies the Iron Friends on many of their adventures.”

The voice cast for Iron Man and His Awesome Friends includes Mason Blomberg as Tony Stark, Kapri Ladd as Riri Williams, Aidyn Ahn as Amadeus Cho, David Kaye as Vision, and Fred Tatasciore as Gamma. The series is produced by Disney Jr. and Marvel Studios in association with Atomic Cartoons.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Marvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends to preschoolers on Disney Jr. and Disney+, expanding their connection to the iconic Marvel universe,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a statement (via Deadline). “Partnering with Brad [Winderbaum] and the Marvel Studios team on this series allows us to bring the incredible legacy of Iron Man to a whole new generation, sparking young imaginations with characters that embody courage, teamwork, and creativity.”

How many animated series has Iron Man had?

Since his comics debut in 1963, Iron Man has appeared in more than a dozen animated series. However, Iron Man and His Awesome Friends will only be the third self-titled animated series after Iron Man (1994-96) and Iron Man: Armored Adventures (2009-12). The Marvel superhero is arguably best known for his live-action appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he was portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. between 2008 and 2019.

Iron Man and His Awesome Friends is scheduled to premiere on Disney Jr. and Disney+ in summer 2025.
