Jac Schaeffer, the showrunner of Agatha All Along, has recently talked about her decision to leave Marvel Studios’ upcoming project, the Vision series. Meanwhile, Paul Bettany is returning for the show, rumored to be titled Vision Quest. Announced by Marvel Studios in 2022, the Vision series follows the events that unfold after 2021’s Wanda Vision. It will focus on the White Vision, who took off from Westview after regaining his memories. The show is expected to hit Disney Plus by 2026.
Jac Schaeffer explains why she exited the upcoming Vision series as showrunner
Jac Shaeffer has been constantly appearing in interviews for the promotion of her show, Agatha All Along. She is not just addressing the fan theories around the Marvel mini-series but has also been dropping some big hints. For instance, this includes her opinions of the Mephisto name reveal.
Recently, Schaeffer was present for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Here, the interviewer asked her whether she left the Vision series due to the constant projects she was doing with Marvel. Apart from Agatha All Along, Schaeffer has worked on Marvel projects. This includes WandaVision, Black Widow, and Captain Marvel, for which she crafted the early draft.
Stating her reasons, Jac Schaeffer said that with production work going on simultaneously for both the Vision series and Agatha All Along, it became difficult for her to work on it. She said, “Yeah, [Agatha All Along and Vision Quest] overlapped in a way that wasn’t tenable for me, and it was with a very heavy heart that I realized that it logistically wouldn’t work for me. But I am so looking forward to that show. I am just an enormous cheerleader for everybody involved, especially Paul.”
Earlier, in May 2024, Variety reported that Marvel Studios had recruited Terry Matalas as the showrunner of the Vision series after Schaeffer’s exit.
