A new rumor surrounding the highly anticipated Doctor Strange 3 suggests that Sam Raimi could be back in the director’s chair for this project. Marvel Studios hasn’t made any announcements regarding Doctor Strange 3 being in production. However, fans have been eagerly waiting to see what unfolds next in sorcerer Stephen Strange’s life. This is due to the post-credit scene of Raimi’s 2022 directorial, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Besides, fans are no strangers to Sam Raimi’s direction as he has also helmed Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy.
Sam Raimi rumored to return for Doctor Strange 3
Recently, a report by popular Hollywood scooper Jeff Sneider stated that Sam Raimi could be in talks to direct Doctor Strange 3.
Sam Raimi took over Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness after Scott Derrickson exited the project. Furthermore, he connected with fans through his trademark direction style. Although critics weren’t too happy with the movie, it made around $955 million at the world box office, becoming a huge hit.
The InSneider report stated that the deal between Marvel and Raimi is almost closed for Doctor Strange 3. Moreover, the story might pick up from the cliffhanger fans were left with in the second movie. Sneider wrote, “I’m told that Raimi is definitely coming back, which is no surprise as he really seemed to enjoy working with Marvel, as opposed to other filmmakers who have struggled to adapt to the studio’s process.”
However, there is no confirmation on this matter from Marvel Studios as of writing.
Additionally, a report by Comic Book Resources states that Sam Raimi was rumored to return for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. However, recently The Hollywood Reporter shared that Marvel Studios has approached Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton for the project. He will be taking up the position after Jon Watts.
