New rumor suggests Spider-Man 4’s title will be ‘King in Black’
A recent rumor hints that Spider-Man 4 could be titled Spider-Man: King in Black. This title indicates that the movie could feature Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, as the main villain.
This rumor was initially shared by scooper Cryptic HD Quality on X (formerly Twitter) and has since been reposted by other familiar scoopers, including MyTimeToShineHello. The rumor hints at a possible multiversal storyline involving Knull and Venom. But, since it doesn’t come from Marvel and both the aforementioned scoopers have a dodgy track record, the title rumor should be taken with a grain of salt.
Knull is a key character in Marvel Comics, known as the creator of the symbiotes. He wields the powerful Black Necrosword, a version of which was seen in Thor: Love and Thunder. His rumored involvement in Spider-Man 4 indicates a shift from previously speculated street-level threats, such as Scorpion and Prowler.
Instead, the film may feature a multiversal storyline involving symbiotes and Venom. Its events could be set up by Venom: The Last Dance, where Knull is confirmed to make his live-action debut.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will helm Spider-Man 4. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will return as writers. Production is said to begin in 2025, with the movie aiming for a potential release date in July 2026.
