The stellar viewership number that Agatha All Along generated makes it yet another hit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus. Earlier this year, Echo, another MCU project, came out and performed extremely well with the audience, debuting at the top spot on both Disney Plus and Hulu. Its premiere also reportedly resulted in additional viewership for Hawkeye, The Punisher Season 1, and the first two seasons of Daredevil.
Agatha All Along’s viewership ensures Marvel’s fourth win in 2024
The success of Agatha All Along adds to the remarkable year Marvel is having with the releases of Echo, Deadpool & Wolverine, and X-Men ’97.
The series premiere of the show, which came out on September 18, 2024, drew in 9.3 million global views after seven days of streaming, per the Walt Disney Company. (via Deadline) Agatha All Along has garnered an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas Echo has a 70% approval rating. Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned a 78% approval rating. It has also made over $1.3 billion at the global box office against a $200 million budget. This makes it the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Another successful release of the year for Marvel is X-Men ’97, a revival of and a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–1997). Following its premiere on March 20, 2024, the show pulled in widespread critical acclaim and positive responses from the audience. More seasons of the show are currently in development.
The four successful releases in 2024 come after Marvel experienced a lukewarm year in 2023, partly due to the box-office failure of the MCU movies Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. However, the third MCU movie of the year, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, was a success, earning $845.6 million at the global box office against a $250 million budget.
New episodes of Agatha All Along become available on Disney Plus on every Wednesday after a two-episode premiere. The final two episodes, eight and nine, will begin streaming together on October 30. Echo and X-Men ’97 are available for streaming on Disney Plus. Deadpool & Wolverine is still in theaters and recently came out on various digital video-on-demand sites.
